Digital Agriculture Economics
Valuing ag data with the farm gate & beyond
A Little About Me
My research has focused on modeling spatial agronomic systems, digital agriculture, and the value of a community of farm data. This research has progressed and evolved into new projects driven by industry demands. I invite you to take a look at my published work to get a better idea of the fruits of my research labor. Feel free to get in touch with me to say hi or for more information about my work to arrange speaking engagements.
Digital agriculture and community data
Farm data in a community
The advent of digital agriculture has allowed farm data to become not only valuable within the farm gate but in an aggregated community. My research has evaluated the economic loss when farm data became unavailable as well as being misappropriated by third parties. The market structure of the farm data industry is being formed before our very eyes, and my research continues to evaluate that progress.
We are still in the infancy of digital agriculture especially when it comes to utilizing farm data within the farm gate. Answering questions about this is essential for understanding the mechanistic role digital and precision plays on other processes including community data aka big data. Understanding these are paramount for developing tools to further explore this avenue for improved data collection.
